I have always had a philosophy about my friends and people in my life that the people I get to know and start to let close to me are like family.  I know most don't think that way or understand it but well it is just something about me that I feel that the people that you meet and introduce to your family and kids well you are choosing them and making that step in your life to share with people a side of you that others don't get to see.  You are letting them get close to you like you would if you were in a relationship.  And why not?  You are in one.  You are in a friendship and one that is growing and you are getting to feel close to this person like they are a member of your family.

Some people have friends that they are closer to than they are to their own families.  And well that is OK.  Not all families are close.  Just because you are blood does not mean you have to be friends.  Heck I know that I am adopted so my family isn't blood and well they are all to me friends.  I wish that some families knew that or understood that because you shouldn't have to have a distance between friends and friendships.  Especially in today's world.  If we would all just take the time to get to know our family's we might find we have some real true friends.

So to me I don't care and try to look past what the title of a person is.  I try to just look at the person.  I want to just know that they are my friend, break down the walls, and then hopefully we all feel welcome and like we are family.  I have a good friend and they have become close to me and my family over the years.  I consider her like a sister and my extended family and so does she.  This to me is how your family grows, relationships should be, and what family really is about.

Being friends!
